Michael McDonald Goes Indie…Again.

Your mom’s favorite former backup vocalist is back at it. This time, Michael McDonald supplies the groovy chorus to Holy Ghost!‘s “Some Children,” the final song on their 2011 self-titled LP. When that tambourine starts shaking and McDonald starts making his own disco moves, you can almost feel a sweaty gold medallion repeatedly, painfully getting caught in your abundance of proudly-displayed chest hair (which wouldn’t feel so creepy if it weren’t for that tremendous children’s choir…).
Of course, it’s a little ridiculous to hear McDonald belt out “You don’t hear when I’m talking / You don’t hear what I’m saying.” At not as though anyone keeps forgettin’ just how ridiculously huge the man’s voice (or beard) is.
Fortunately, for all of you fellow fans of musical absurdity in an irresistible package, there ain’t no mountain high enough to keep this guy away from the indie scene. And don’t believe what a fool believes, either–when McDonald is on the track, you’ve got either a hit; a nice, long belly laugh; or both.
Consider McDonald’s last effort as the lead vocalist on a rework of Grizzly Bear’s 2009 single “While You Wait for the Others.” Personally, I can’t stay away this meaty rendition. I also cannot say if that’s because of its inherent awesomeness, or because it makes me laugh uncontrollably. There’s just nothing that can prepare you for this, check it out:
